Networking Operating System (NOS)
- A specialised computer operating system that is designed primarily for a network device such as a router, switch or firewall to support workstation, personal computer and more.
- An operating system oriented to computer networking which allow to share file and printer access among multiple computers in a network.Also, network operating system (NOS) enable the sharing of data, users, groups, security, applications, and other networking functions.
- NOT operating systems (OS), such as Windows. Operating systems are designed for single users to control one computer, but network operating systems (NOS) coordinate the activities of multiple computers across a network. The role of the network operating systems act as a director, it keep the network to run smoothly.
