Modem act as a DAC and ADC converterA modem contains a DAC (Digital-to-Analog) converter and an ADC(Analog-to-Digital) converter. The DAC in the modem is required to send the digital data from digital computer down to the analogue telephone line. Besides that, the ADC in the modem does the vice versa of DAC. It use to convert the analogue signals from the telephone line and can be converted back into digital data so that it can display in a digital computer. In other simple words, the computers are digital devices which transmit and receive digital signal only and the telephone system is analogue only. Therefore, a modem is required to converts the signal from digital to analogue or vice versa.
